Artist's Description

I was at my desk when I saw a long, dark shape just under the canal surface. Big shape. I ran out, expecting to see a tarpon but there was nothing at all. Not even a ripple. That one was headed north, towards open water. Later I saw the dolphin in that familiar sine-wave motion headed back in. There's no reason they wouldn't swim here. Manatee do. Sharks do. Tarpon do. We had a 5' barracuda living under the boat for a few years.

Come from Mexico, they say,
Come all the way to the Keys,
Just lookin' for a place to stay,
Just lookin' for a home,
Just lookin' foh a home.

An uncropped version of this photograph is available. Email for details.

A barefoot, outdoor and nature photographer, he has fine art and stock photography from New England, the Atlantic coastal states, Florida, and the American Southwest. "I'm serendipitous," he says. "I'll sit on a site waiting for the superlative sun but I'm just as happy to have a walk around body when I see a speedboat on my street." Click the...
