Artist's Description

The smallest post office in the United States is a tiny shed on the Tamiami Trail near Ochopee, Florida, 34141. The building was originally used to store very short irrigation pipes an a tomato farm; it was converted into a post office in 1953, after a fire destroyed the previous office and general store. The post office serves the adjacent Miccosukee and Seminole Indian populations as well as many, many tourists.
