Artist's Description

Before radio, before television, there was live entertainment, and this is where folks in much of Franklin County and beyond came to enjoy traveling troupes presenting music, drama and comedy.

It was built in 1892 and has featured traveling and local entertainment, hosted Town meetings and weddings, and served as the home for school events. The stage is intimate and the acoustics match any of the great music halls.

Now fully restored, the Opera House hosts performances by the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, traveling shows, and is the home venue for the local theater.
