Artist's Description

Launch Series: NASA’s MAVEN spacecraft began its journey to Mars launched from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral on November 17, 2013. At a gross weight of 5,410 pounds, the MAVEN carries eight scientific instruments to study the Martian atmosphere. The rocket was an Atlas V 401, tail number AV-038.
